It’s pretty clear at this point, peopleloveElden Ring! The action RPG with beautiful visuals and tight mechanics has been an absolute hit with fans and critics alike, in spite of (and possibly due in part to) tough-as-nails combat encounters. The team at FromSoftware managed to win the honor of Game of the Year at five of the major award ceremonies, and now one more can be added to that list!

Last night at the Game Developers Choice Awards (GDCA), the team at FromSoftware reigned supreme once again as their name was called once more to receive the title of Game of the Year, having also won in the categories of Best Visual Art and Best Design. Our own Dan Danzy also included it on his list of best games of 2022. How about you? Have you played Elden Ring? Do you think it’s worthy of the praise it’s received?

A North Texas native, I was born in '80s and grew up '90s playing a hefty amount of NES, Sega Genesis, and SNES. Some early favorites include Mike Tyson's Punch-Out!!, Road Rash II, and Super Mario World. As the 3D revolution took hold in the late 1990s, my interest in video games waned while my interest in music grew. Then around 2007, I started recollecting some old favorites which led to discovering classics I missed out on. The casual hobby snowballed into a full-blown obsession, and it became my mission to make up for years of lost gaming.
