If Sony has conditioned us to expect anything, it’s that they will always introduce a slim version of their PlayStation consoles a few years into its lifespan. This practice dates all the way back to the original PlayStation when they released the small but mighty ‘PS One’ model in 2000. However, with the PlayStation 5 still in extremely high demand a full two years after its release, it’s tough to predict a revised console will make it to market. Retailers are having a tough enough time keeping PS5s in stock as it is – there’s not much incentive for Sony to spend resources pumping out a newer version just yet. But some people just can’t wait, and one of those people was willing to take matters into his own hands!

Back in June, a YouTube channel called DIY Perks made waves by building the world’s first PS5 Slim. Using the motherboard of a standard PlayStation 5 along with custom parts and a lot of ingenuity, he was able to create an extremely low profile version of the usually enormous console. His version is less than an inch thick and was tested and by running Horizon Forbidden West. Take a look!

A North Texas native, I was born in '80s and grew up '90s playing a hefty amount of NES, Sega Genesis, and SNES. Some early favorites include Mike Tyson's Punch-Out!!, Road Rash II, and Super Mario World. As the 3D revolution took hold in the late 1990s, my interest in video games waned while my interest in music grew. Then around 2007, I started recollecting some old favorites which led to discovering classics I missed out on. The casual hobby snowballed into a full-blown obsession, and it became my mission to make up for years of lost gaming.
