Controller storage can be a pain, especially if you collect them or start throwing multiple consoles into the mix. Well, today we’re taking a quick look at a product that sets out to alleviate some of those concerns: the Kytok Controller Desk Stand with Cable Organizer. I’ll be reviewing the 4 tier model, which can hold up to 8 controllers, though 2 tier and 3 tier options are also available. Disclaimer: this item was sent to me for review, but opinions are entirely mine.

Assembly

Putting it together was very simple. Less than five minutes after opening the box, I was looking at a completed unit. The tool needed to put it together comes inside the box, and mine even included extra screws (big points for that!). The instructions are pretty simple to understand โ€“ the pictures do most of the legwork in that regard. Parts are clearly marked, so over all, a no-fuss experience.

Construction

The product is actually very well made. It’s got more weight and presence to it than I expected. The base plate is heavy, giving the unit the necessary sturdiness to store your pricey peripherals. The controller platforms themselves are plastic but well reinforced โ€“ they don’t feel brittle or flimsy at all. Each one is nice and wide with a textured rubber coating to help prevent accessories from slipping off. There are little cord clips on each tier (the cable organizer) so you can charge accessories while they’re on the stand. It can also hold a headset if you desire in place of 2 controller spots, but since I primarily play solo games, I’m using all 8. I did, however, snap a photo of my studio headphones on the rack to give an idea of how they will sit.

Thoughts After Using

So, I’ve been using the stand for a little less than a week, and I’ve got to say, I’m quite pleased. Nearly every wireless controller I tried sits squarely on the tiers without resting on the joysticks or anything funky like that. The only ones I found issues with are Wiimotes and my Wii U Pro Controller. Those shapes just don’t work well and end up sliding off. Everything else works beautifully, including PS5, PS4, PS3, Xbox Series, Xbox One, Xbox 360, and Nintendo Switch Pro Controllers. The cable organizer, I found to be more of a bonus than selling point. I don’t actually keep the cords in the clips at all times, but I do use them when I’m charging.

Should You Buy?

Over all, this is a very decent option if you’re in need of controller management. I had actually been trying for a few years to come up with an elegant way to store multiple controllers, and this fits the bill! It’s a handy way to keep them organized, on display, and ready to charge.

  1. This actually looks pretty sturdy! I like the option to add headphones too. At the moment I just leave my controllers and headphones in a tangled mess by the tv, itโ€™s not ideal haha,
