A sure fire way to stir up some nostalgia is to fire up a game console you spent some time with in your youth. The sounds that accompany the startup of our favorite consoles seem to hit an oddly satisfying spot in our subconscious. Well, one person managed to recreate those memory-inducing sounds in with the help of a synthesizer and presumably with MIDI technology.
The clip video was posted to YouTube in 2020 by the channel Bored Piano. And this person covers a lot of ground! Nearly every successful console with a startup sound is featured (along with a few unsuccessful) including the Game Boy, PlayStation, Wii, Dreamcast, and a lot more. The camera is fixed on the piano keys throughout the duration of the short but impressive video. The player perfectly mimics every nuance of these very distinct sound bytes. It’s seriously worth checking out.
