HBO’s The Last of Us adaptation has pretty well nailed it so far with both critics and viewers. Its success has helped defy the notion that video games don’t translate well into dramatic viewing. The series’ main star Pedro Pascal (who plays Joel) hosted NBC’s Saturday Night Live last night and surprised us with a crossover we weren’t expecting.

In the fake trailer, audiences are teased with a new HBO series that takes the intense drama found in The Last of Us, only applied a more light-hearted game – specifically Mario Kart. There’s not a whole lot more to say without giving it away, so I’ll let you take a look. But I will say, I might actually watch this if it were real!

A North Texas native, I was born in '80s and grew up '90s playing a hefty amount of NES, Sega Genesis, and SNES. Some early favorites include Mike Tyson's Punch-Out!!, Road Rash II, and Super Mario World. As the 3D revolution took hold in the late 1990s, my interest in video games waned while my interest in music grew. Then around 2007, I started recollecting some old favorites which led to discovering classics I missed out on. The casual hobby snowballed into a full-blown obsession, and it became my mission to make up for years of lost gaming.
